Parkhausbetriebs GmbH Worms closed the 2024 financial year with a significantly improved result. The net loss for the year was reduced from 744,698 euros in the previous year to 493,393 euros - an improvement in earnings of around 251,000 euros. This shows that the extensive investments in digitalization, convenience and sustainability are already bearing their first economic fruit.
Digital parking arrives - 70% of payments cashless
A key project was the introduction of a ticketless and barrier-free parking management system in all parking garages. Customers appreciate the ease of use: parking is possible without a ticket and payment can be made conveniently and contactlessly by debit or credit card, NFC or EasyPark app. 70% of parking fees are now paid cashless. For forgotten payments, an online platform is available for subsequent payment within 24 hours.
Investments in technology, efficiency and service
Further investments in 2024 included converting the lighting in the "Am Theater" multi-storey parking lot to sensor-controlled LED technology, modernizing the elevator control system in the Park & Ride parking lot and purchasing two new cleaning machines. These measures not only increase energy efficiency and operational safety, but also comfort and cleanliness for users.
Moderate parking fees in regional comparison
Despite extensive modernization, parking fees in Worms remain at a comparatively moderate level. The maximum daily rate is €12 for 24 hours - which is on a par with many surrounding cities. In Mannheim, Ludwigshafen and Mainz, the maximum daily rate is only €10 in some cases, but in Mainz it is limited to the period from 06:00 to 19:00. The cost of an hour's parking in Ludwigshafen and Mainz is €1.80, which is higher than in the Worms parking garages. The Worms parking lots therefore offer an attractive price-performance comparison - with modern service at the same time.
Focus remains on sustainability
Further measures to increase efficiency and climate friendliness are planned for the current year: "In 2025, we will also convert the lighting in the Park & Ride parking lot to LED technology. We also plan to build a photovoltaic system on the roof of the 'Am Dom' multi-storey parking lot," explains Managing Director Stephan von Borzyskowski. "This will enable us to reduce our operating costs and contribute to sustainable urban development at the same time."
The members of the shareholders' committee and Mayor Stephanie Lohr, the responsible department head of the city of Worms, expressly welcome the positive development of the company. They praise the increase in the attractiveness of the parking lots through technical innovation, user-friendly offers and responsible use of resources.
